The line was first entered into the National Variety Trials in 2011. Data collected from Breeding, NVT and Variety Specific Agronomy Program (VSAP) trials conducted over the last five years shows Lancer has a maturity typically 4 to 7 days longer than EGA Gregory. During the 2013 winter with above average temperatures, Lancers maturity has been similar to that of EGA Gregory in Northern NSW while staying in the long term window in Southern NSW.
